Bosch’s Max is no exception to that, as it’s become our go-to tool for random tasks that pop up. We’ve found 12-volt, compact impact drivers to be super handy and useful.

―BEST ON A BUDGET― Hart Impact Driver Kit Warranty: 3-year limited, 1-year free service Kit includes: Impact driver, one 1.3Ah battery, charger, and a soft carrying/storage case One very nice feature we noted (on other DeWalt drivers we’ve tested, too) is the lighting-with three LEDs oriented around the chuck, the work area is illuminated well, with no shadows. When we drove lag bolts without pilot holes, we noted strain as the lag went deeper-not excessive though, considering the task. Self-tapping screws in sheet metal were easy to get started, but when working quickly we had to be careful not to overdrive and strip them out. We found it easy to regulate driving speed with the variable speed trigger and had no trouble driving a variety of 3.5-inch screws in pressure-treated lumber. It doesn’t have different driving modes, but it had the power to do any job we asked of it. The 20-volt Atomic is a basic contractor-quality tool.
